我昨天回家的時候突然下大雨，我沒帶傘，全身都濕了。過去簡單式跟過去進行式就是像這樣描述過去，講得出來句子嗎？I was going home when it started to rain heavily. I didn’t bring an umbrella, so I was all wet.

過去簡單式句型
肯定句： S + V2 They walked home yesterday. They usually take a bus home.
否定句： S + didn’t + Vo They didn’t walk home.
疑問句：Did + S + Vo? Did they walk home?
過在進行式句型
肯定句： S + was/were + V-ing They were walking home when I saw them.
否定句： S + was/were + not + V-ing There weren’t walking home.
疑問句： Was/Were + S + V-ing? Were they walking home?
1 過去簡單式用在表達過去發生的事件或動作，已經結束。強調動作的完成。
She lived in America from 2005 to 2008. She lives in America.
2 用過去進行式表達在過去的某個時間點是持續進行。強調動作的過程。
She was living in America in 2006.
3 當一個子句是過去簡單式，另外ㄧ個子句是過去進行式時，合併在一起的時候，這時候
過去進行表達比較長的，持續在進行的動作，過去簡單表達的是突然出現，比較短的，
打斷過去正在進行的過去進行式的動作。
When I got home, my father was cooking dinner.
While I was taking a walk, it started to rain.
I took a walk when it started to rain.
4 當兩個子句都是過去簡單式時，則是表示一件事情在另外一件事情後發生，when 接的
子句的動作先發生。
When I got home, my family had dinner.
When it started to rain, I took a walk in the rain.
5 當兩個句子都是過去進行式的時，表示兩個行動都在過去的同時間進行。
While he was walking, he was using his cell phone.
She was doing her homework while she was watching a Japanese drama. multitasking
6 while 後面多接進行式，when 後面多接簡單式，一個句子只能有 when 或 while ，選其
中一個，意思沒有太大的差別，沒有加的那個是要強調的主要子句。when 可以加進行式
但是 while 不能用在簡單式。
I met my wife when/while we were working for the same company.
When I met her, we were working for the same company.

我這樣思考出來想到的翻譯是 the clock was ringing,when I got up
跟您的答案不相同
您的句子是當鬧鐘響到一半的時候我起床。所以我沒有去按鬧鐘，鬧鐘在我起床後還繼續地響下去。這樣子翻譯跟我的翻譯英文的語義就不太一樣。翻譯只是練習，答案可能有很多。只要用法對都可以。
所以老師那題的語意上 兩個都是打斷的?
再請問我的用法上是正確的嗎?

這裡的中文是英文句子翻譯過去的，要表達的是兩個動作前後的關係。主要子句是我醒來。

The alarm clock was ringing, when I got up.
這個句子英文的句型沒有錯，意思是當我起床的時候鬧鐘正在響。主要子句是鬧鐘正在響。
另外不好意思，我有在部落格上面問問題的地方有特別說明，不幫忙看改翻譯的句子，因為都有附解答作為參考，翻譯有無限的可能性，句型正確不要離題意太遠，大致上都可以。所以僅限於這一題了。謝謝。

I was hit–>這個hit為什麼式原形?而不是was hitting呢?

因為是被車子撞到是被動，be動詞加過去分詞，hit 這邊是過去分詞

A: Did you see Jenny last night?
B: Yes, she “was wearing” a very nice jacket.
請問 Ｂ 可不可以說 “Yes, she wore a very nice jacket”? 為什麼這邊要用進行式呢？
回答：不可以，因為題目問你看到 Jenny 嗎？回答時說完整的句子會是 Yes, I saw her last night, and she was wearing a very nice jacket. 語意是我看見她時，她當時正穿著一件漂亮的外套，所以用過去進行式。假如是問 What did you wear to the party yesterday? 這時就會回答，I wore a dress.
二、第九題
Ａ：What “were you doing” at 2:00 this morning?
B：I was asleep.
請問在這題的 A 對話中，為何要使用進行式 “were you doing” 而不是 What “did you do” at 2:00 this morning?
回答：因為英文在表達過去某個時間點正在做什麼事時會用過去進行式。會是在那個時間點前開始的動作，正在進行，會持續下去。時間點會是正在做某件事情當中。所以問問句時也會用過去進行式。
What were you doing at 10 p.m. last night? I was watching TV.
過去式是表示過去發生的動作，結束了。
What did you do yesterday? I watched TV.
