there is 跟 there are 是很容易用錯的句型，沒有很難，但是單數跟複數還有不可數的用法要分清楚。另外要注意這個用法跟 have 跟 has 的用法的不同，還有不可以把什麼地方有什麼用 there has ，there has been 是 there is 的現在完成式，下一篇會講到，敬請期待

講義內容

我有一支筆。 I have a pen.

桌上有一支筆。The table has a pen. (X) There is a pen on the table.

 

have：用來表達人擁有，關係，疾病，個性

They have a big house.

The couples have two children.

Tom has a bad cold.

Lisa has a good personality.

 

there is / there are ：用來來表達什麼地方有什麼東西，表達存在。there 是虛主詞，真正的主詞會在 there is/there are 的後面，後面的真正的主詞決定要用的是 there is 或 there are

there is 用在可數單數名與不可數名詞的主詞

there are 用在可數複數名詞的主詞

there’s = there is 常常會用在口語會話，假如第一個名詞是單數的時候，雖然後面還有其他單數或複數名詞，口語都會用 There’s a …, a … , and …. 但是在文法跟考試時是錯誤的。

There is a speaker on the table.

There is some milk in the fridge.

There are two watches in the drawer.

There are some books on the floor.

There’s a TV, a table, and a sofa in the living room. (口語)

Yes/No 問句	Is there  a printer on the table? Is there an iPhone in the bag?	Are there four mugs on the table? Are there any stuff animals on the bed?
WH 問句	How many printers are there on the table? There is a printer on the table. How many iPhones are there in the bag? There is an iPhone in the bag.	How many mugs are there on the table? There are four mugs on the table. How many stuff animals are there on the bed? There are some stuff animals on the bed.

 

不可數名詞

	不可數名詞
肯定句	There is some cheese in the fridge. There is some fruit on the table.
否定句	There isn’t any cheese in the fridge. There isn’t any fruit on the table.
Yes/No 問句	Is there any cheese in the fridge? Is there any fruit on the table?
WH 問句	How much cheese is there in the fridge? There is a little/some/a lot of cheese in the fridge. How much fruit is there on the table? There is some fruit on the table.

some 多用在肯定句，any 多用在否定句與疑問句

 

there is 表示的是存在，什麼地方有什麼東西，there 是虛主詞，後面會有真正的主詞。

it is 是 it 加上be 動詞，it 是主詞，代替了前面說過的主詞有其他意思如天氣，時間等。

There’s a cat in the garden. It’s cute.

There’s a car outside. It’s a police car.
