自然發音 A-Z 二十六個字母的發音

這個部分是潔西上課的講義。因為是基礎課程,會上一些文法會話單字跟自然發音的部分。這邊的進度會比較慢,按照上課的進度發,因為一次上課不能上太多,怕基礎的學生會吸收不良。把發音錄下來是希望讓同學回家後可以自主多練習。Practice makes perfect.

B. too, so, either, neither

中文表達對肯定句的贊同與否定句的同樣不贊同都是用“也”,英文的用法卻有不同,同為肯定時用too, so, 兩者皆為否定時用either, neither

We can use so or too to agree with a positive statement.

表達對一個肯定句有相同的看法,贊同時可用下列句型。

S=subject 主詞  A= Auxiliary Verb 助動詞

Me too. = S + A, too. = So + A + S.

A: I love Taiwanese food.

B: Me too. / I do, too. / So do I.

A; I have eaten Mexican food.

B: Me too. / I have, too. / So have I.

We can use either or neither to disagree with a negative statement.

表達對一個否定句有同樣否定看法,不贊同時可用下列句型。

Me neither. = S+ A + not either. = Neither + A + S.

C. 形容食物的形容詞 adjectives for food

1. healthy 健康的 2. unhealthy 不健康的 3. greasy 油膩的 4. bland 清淡的

8. bitter苦的 9. spicy 辣的 10. salty 鹹的11. delicious 美味的

12. vegetarian/vegan 素食的

B. Ordering a meal  點菜

用英文點菜其實不難,難的是菜單的菜名可能看不懂。菜單可能有套餐跟單點。套餐的菜單叫set menu,常常會是三道菜three course,四道菜,有個固定的價位。單點的菜單叫a la carte。有些餐廳會有酒單wine menu/wine list。

一般正式的西餐菜單會有

開胃菜appetizer/starter:onion soup, shrimp cocktail

主菜main dish/entrée:roast beef, steak, spaghetti

甜點dessert:ice cream, apple pie, cheese cake

飲料drink/beverage:soft drink, beer, coffee

主菜的附菜side dish:可能是蔬菜vegetable或米飯rice,也可能是不同方式做法的馬鈴薯:baked potato, mashed potato, French fires.

牛排的熟度:

very rare/ rare/ medium rare/ medium / medium well done/ well done

很生                           五分                       全熟

常見沙拉醬dressing

1. blue cheese dressing 藍起士醬 2. Caesar dressing 凱薩醬

3. French dressing 法國醬 4. Honey Dijon 蜂蜜芥末醬

5. Italian dressing 義大利醬 6.Thousand Island dressing 千島醬

7. oil and vinegar/ vinaigrette 油醋醬

一般服務生的問題多以would like的句型來問要不要什麼。如

What would you like? / What kind of dressing would you like?

How would you like your steak? / What would you like to drink?

Would you like anything else?

點菜時的句型可用I’d like … 或 I’ll have … ,或是Can I have …?

最好不要用 I want …。英文的want語氣比較強烈,有時會令人覺得不禮貌。

I’d like a steak.   I’ll have a cup of coffee.   Can I have a soup?

E4A Interchange 1 L7 Unit 7 We had a great time

F. Simple Past 過去簡單式

英文有十二個時態。在學每一個時態時要記住四點:使用時機、句型、動詞變化以及搭配的副詞。最重要是理解跟多做練習,才能靈活運用、得心應手

一、過去簡單式的使用時機

英文用過去簡單式用來表達發生在過去的事件。

  1. We went on a school trip last week. It was a lot of fun.
  2. Jane saw the Avengers last night. She didn’t like it.

過去簡單式也用來表達在過去重複進行的活動、習慣。

  1. When I studied in Sydney, I cooked every day, but I almost never cook now.
  2. I went to church with my mother every Sunday when I was a kid.

二、過去簡單式的句型

(一)過去簡單式一般動詞的句型為S + V2(V2指的是動詞的過去式)

肯定句     S    +     V2

I              ate a big dinner last night.

Tina          got married when she was 18.

否定與問句需要用did這個助動詞來幫忙。否定句在助動詞後面加not

否定句      S   +    did not    +   V1

They        didn’t         do their homework.

He          didn’t         sing at the KTV last weekend.

Yes/No questions Yes/No 問句 把助動詞did放在主詞前面造問句

Did   +   S    +  V1

Did       you       sleep well last night?

Did       Tom       have a good time?

WH questions  WH問句則將疑問詞放在最前面再依序放助動詞、主詞、動詞

WH             did   +   S    +   V1

What time    did        you        get up this morning?

Where         did        Linda       go last weekend?

當what跟who為主詞疑問詞時,不需要助動詞,動詞用過去式

What happened last night?

Who   ate   my chocolate?

E4A Interchange 1 L7 Unit 7 We had a great time!     Jess Lin     P.7
過去簡單式Simple Past

肯定句     S +    was/were +noun/ adjective /preposition phrase

You         were        happy earlier.

My father   was          at home this morning.

否定與問句用本身的be動詞來改否定與造問句。

第三態又叫過去分詞V3,用在完成式與被動。分規則變化與不規則變化兩種。規則變化則加ed,如cooked。不規則則須牢記,如eaten。

下面是下次的作業分辨何時用am/is/are,何時用do/does。最後有解答:)

助動詞DO/DOES與AM/IS/ARE 造問句時的用法與區別  Jess Lin   P.1

英文造問句與改否定的時候都需要一個助動詞,這個助動詞依主詞,表達的時態,表達的語態會有所不同。造問句的時候要把助動詞放到主詞前面,造否定把not放到助動詞後面。 要決定用do/does還是am/is/are造問句,首先要看句子本身有沒有一般動詞,如果有一般動詞就用do/does,沒有的話就用am/is/are。再來看人稱,再決定用的是do或does,是am, is, 還是are。

現在簡單式的句型可分兩種,句子裡有一般動詞的時候,用do/does造問句。句子裡沒有一般動詞,有am/is/are的時候,用am/is/are造問句。
一般動詞 :主詞+動詞原型 (第三人稱單數加s)
S + V1
I/You/We/They work.   Where do you work?  Do your parents work?
He/She/It works.        Where does he work? Does your mother work?

BE :主詞+現在式BE +名詞/形容詞/介系詞片語
S + BE1 + noun/adjective/preposition phrase
I am a teacher.                      Where am I?                     Am I tall?
He/She/It is happy.               Why is he happy?              Is he handsome?
We/You/They are at home. Where are the kids?           Are they at home?

現在進行式的句型因為本身就有BE,所以就用BE來造問句與改否定。
S  +  BE1 + V-ing
I am cooking.                          What am I doing?     Am I dreaming?
He/She/It is dancing.               How is he doing?       Is he sleeping?
We/You/They are  singing.   Why are they singing?   Are they crying?

過去式也是如此推斷,過去簡單式就用did或was/were造問句,過去進行式用was/were造問句。 。現在完成式用have/has,過去完成式用had。未來式用am/is/are或will。不同語態就用不同的助動詞如:would, could, can, may, …等。

J.Comparisons with adjectives  形容詞比較級

在比較兩個人,事,物,地等時 (N1與N2) 可以用形容詞的比較級來作比較。此時形容詞比需用比較級,常見句型如下。特別注意,後面有比較的對象N2時,必須有than,假如比較對象省略,就不須than。

   N1        be adj-er/more adj than N2

Tainan          is        cheaper          than   Taipei.

Taipei          is    more expensive        than   Tainan.

The weather     is       hotter         today.

形容詞比較級的規則如下:

一、一個音節的形容詞在字尾加er形成比較級。

cheap-cheaper, warm-warmer, clean,-cleaner, tall-taller

二、一個音節的形容詞字尾為e時,只要加r形成比較級。

nice-nicer, safe-safer, close-closer, late-later

三、一個音節的形容詞(多為三或四個字母)字尾結構是子音加短母音加子音時,則要重複字尾加er來形成比較級。

big-bigger, hot-hotter, sad-sadder, slim-slimmer

四、兩個音節的形容詞字尾為y時,則去y,加ier形成比較級。

pretty-prettier, friendly-friendlier, funny-funnier, happy-happier

五、兩個或兩個音節以上的形容詞則在前面加more形成比較級。

expensive-more expensive, stylish-more stylish, handsome-more handsome

六、有少數例外需牢記。

good-better, bad-worse, far-farther/further, little-less

K.相等程度時用as…as

假如比較的N1N2的程度一致時,可以用as…as的句型,這時中間的形容詞要用的是原型。

N1  be as  adj   as   N2

My father   is     as   tall   as    my mother.

Your shoes   are    as  good  as    mine.

Welcome to Jessie’s class!

潔西是個講話有點快,個性有點急,又有點迷糊的老師,但是也是個還算有耐心,也樂於回答同學問題,對教學有熱忱的老師。剛開始同學可能會不習慣潔西的上課方式與速度,可是呢給自己跟潔西一點時間,大部分同學過陣子就習慣了,在還沒適應前,記得多提出問題,多請潔西放慢速度。

潔西上課方式大致如下:

  1. Warm-up Questions

Practice makes perfect. 多練習才會完美J

  1. Group Discussion  小組討論

團體三四人一組,對每個觀點意見大家提出看法與想法,最後與全班分享。問題可以用討論的方式每個人輪流問問題,每個人都回答。也可以A問B問題,B回答問題,C再問B問一個following-up question。主要是讓大家有交流的時間,會的人可以幫助不會的,同學也可參考其他同學的回答,從中學習。

  1. Survey

要說表達”好好喝”與其說good good drink,不如說The drink is good.

I’m interested in English.

Review & Preview

Wikipedia

10. 有空的人可以上潔西的部落格看看一些推薦英語學習的網站及方法。希望大家都可以把英文學好J
