I go to Japan on business every month.

I went to Japan last month.

I have been to Japan twice.

F.  already, yet, and just

Have you eaten lunch yet?

Yes, I’ve already eaten lunch.  I just ate lunch before I came here.

No, I haven’t eaten lunch yet.

E4B American Headway 1 L12 Unit 14 Have you ever?  Jess Lin     P.3

Present Perfect

多與ever, never, already, yet, still, just 等副詞連用。

I have moved to a new apartment.

She has never seen snow.

常與次數(times), since, so far…

I have met many nice people since I came to Taiwan.

He has been to Japan three times.

常與since與for連用。

I have taught English for ten years.

Jack has lived in New York since he was five.

S  +   have/has + V3

I        have     seen the movie.

My mother      has      been to Canada.

S   +   have/has not    +   V3

They       have not        seen the movie.

He         has not         been to Canada.

Yes/No 問句把助動詞have/has放在主詞前面造問句

Have/Has  +   S    +  V

Have        you       seen the movie?

Has         Tom       been to Canada?

WH       have/has    +   S    +   V3

Where      have          you         been?

How long    has          May         studied English?

三、現在簡單式的副詞如:never, ever, already, yet, so far, lately, this week, recently, these days, for, since…等。

E4B L9 Unit 9 Food you like!                                 P.2

C. Count and noncount nouns

單數singular a      dog

an     apple

one    book

some     tea

a lot of    coffee

much     money

複數plural two    dogs

some   apples

a lot of  books

many   oranges

          X

只有一個的時候稱做單數 (singular),前面一定要加冠詞如 a, the, this, my等。 複數時可以加數量詞如two, three等,也可以用some, a lot of 或many。

A: How many eggs are there?

B: There’s an egg. / There are three eggs. / There are some eggs.

There are a lot of eggs. / There aren’t many eggs. / There aren’t any eggs.

A: Are there any eggs?

B: Yes, there’s an egg. / Yes, there are some eggs. / Yes, there are five eggs.

No, there aren’t any eggs.

可以用some, a lot of或much來表達量。 How much money do you have in your wallet? 不可數名詞要表達數量時也可以用容器來數,例如a bottle of water, a glass of wine。

A: How much coffee is there?

B: There’s some coffee. / There’s a lot of coffee.

There isn’t much coffee. / There isn’t any coffee.

A: Is there any coffee?

B: Yes, there is some coffee. / Yes, there is a lot of coffee.

No, there isn’t any coffee.

some (+)  any (–, ?) Would you like some cookies? Can you lend me some money?

E4B L9 Unit 9 Food you like!                                 P.3

D. I’d like / I like

I’d like … I like …

I’d like some coffee.

I like coffee.

Would you like some coffee?

Do you like coffee?

I’d like=I would like =I want I’d like a salad. 或I’ll have a salad. 或 Can I have a salad?

Would you like … ? = Do you want … ?

Would you like + N?

Would you like to + V1?

如:Would you like some tea?

Yes, please. / No, thanks.

Would you like to see a movie with me after class?

Yes, I’d like to.

I’d like to, but I have to visit my parents.

Simple Past

I went home late last night.

He worked all night and finally finished his homework in the morning.

We lived in America for five years when I was a child.

My grandmother went to church every Sunday morning.

(一)過去簡單式一般動詞的句型為S + V2(V2指的是動詞的過去式)

肯定句     S  +   V2

I              ate a big dinner last night.

Tina          got married when she was 18.

S   +    did not    +   V1

They        didn’t         do their homework.

He          didn’t         sing at the KTV last weekend.

Yes/No questions Yes/No 問句 把助動詞did放在主詞前面造問句

Did   +   S    +  V1

Did       you       sleep well last night?

Did       Tom       have a good time?

WH             did   +   S    +   V1

What time    did        you        get up this morning?

Where         did        Linda       go last weekend?

三、過去簡單式的副詞如:this morning, last night, yesterday morning, five years ago, in 2005…等。

E4B L7 Unit 7 Then and now                             Jess Lin      P.3過去簡單式Simple Past

work-worked, help-helped, call-called, wash-washed

live-lived, die-died, dance-danced, smile-smiled

study-studied, cry-cried, worry-worried, copy-copied.

play-played, stay-stayed, enjoy-enjoyed, annoy-annoyed,

shop-shopped, plan-planned, tap-tapped, hop-hopped

/ k /, / f /, / s /, / ʃ /, / tʃ, /θ / 等。

cook-cooked, laugh-laughed, kiss-kissed, wash-washed, watch-watched

call-called, rain-rained, love-loved, play-played, try-tried

want-wanted, need-needed, visit-visited, wait-waited

S  + V1

I       ride a bicycle.

You   take a bus.

He    drives a car.

She   rides a scooter.

It     sleeps.

We    walk.

You    take the MRT.

They   take the train.

S   +   do/does not    + V1

I          do not        eat beef.

You         do not        like Japanese food.

He         does not       drink coffee.

She        does not       cook.

It          does not       work.

We         do not        get up early.

You         do not        sleep for eight hours.

They        do not        play mahjong.

  1. Yes/No 問句

Do/Does  +  S       +  V1

Do             I          work hard?

Do         you        play basketball?

Does       he         go bowling?

Does       she        watch sports on TV?

Does       it          have fun?

Do         we         go jogging?

Do         you        do yoga?

Do         they       play sports?

E4B L4 Take it easy!                                    Jessie Lin   P.3

WH           +    do/does    +   S     +       V1                ?

E4B L4 Take it easy!                                    Jessie Lin   P.5

D.助動詞DO/DOESAM/IS/ARE 造問句時的用法與區別

要決定用do/does還是am/is/are造問句,首先要看句子本身有沒有一般動詞,如果有一般動詞就用do/does,沒有的話就用am/is/are。再來看人稱,再決定用的是do或does,是am, is, 還是are。

句子裡沒有一般動詞,有am/is/are的時候,用am/is/are造問句。

S      +    V1

I/You/We/They work.     Where do you work?    Do your parents work?

He/She/It works.        Where does he work?   Does your mother work?

S + BE1 + noun/adjective/preposition phrase

I am a teacher.                      Where am I?                     Am I tall?

He/She/It is happy.               Why is he happy?              Is he handsome?

We/You/They are at home.     Where are the kids?           Are they at home?

S  +  BE1 + V-ing

I am cooking.                          What am I doing?         Am I dreaming?

He/She/It is dancing.               How is he doing?         Is he sleeping?

We/You/They are  singing.    Why are they singing?   Are they crying?

未來式用am/is/are或will。不同語態就用不同的助動詞如:would, could, can, may, …等。

Use the following words to make  questions with am/is/are or do/does.

H. Time

A: Excuse me. Do you have the time?  A: Can you tell me the time, please?

B: Yes, it’s ten after five.             B: I’m sorry. I don’t have a watch.

A: Thanks a lot.                      A: Thanks anyway.

一點十分就要說成是十分鐘過了一點,ten minutes after one o’clock,所以要讀做 ten after one。 所以一點五十分,就是差十分鐘兩點,ten minutes to two o’clock,所以要讀做 ten to two。

1:00  one o’clock           +
1.55  one fifty-fivefive to two 1.05  one-oh-fivefive after one
1.50  one fiftyten to two 1.10  one tenten after one
1.45  one forty-fivea quarter to two 1.15  one fifteena quarter after one
1.40  one fortytwenty to two 1.20  one twentytwenty after one
1.35  one thirty-fivetwenty-five to two 1.25  one twenty-fivetwenty-five after one
1.30  one thirtyhalf past one

It’s 7.00 A.M.  = It’s seven (o’clock) in the morning.

It’s 12.00 P.M.  = It’s twelve (o’clock). =It’s noon.

It’s 3.00 P.M.   = It’s three (o’clock) in the afternoon.

It’s 7.00 P.M.   = It’s seven (o’clock) in the evening.

It’s 10.00 P.M.  = It’s ten (o’clock) at night.

It’s 12.00 A.M.  = It’s twelve (o’clock) at night. It’s midnight.

4. Let’s Listen (Page 24)

1.

A:      So how do you like your job, Bill?

B:      Well, it was okay at first, but now, after two years, I don’t like it.

A:      Oh, why’s that?

B:      It’s boring. I do the same thing every day. I’m really sick of it.

A:      So why don’t you change jobs?

B:      I’m well-paid. I like the money!

A:      Oh, I see. But you should leave if you’re not happy.

B:      Yeah, maybe I should.

2.

A:      Do you like teaching children, Christine?

B:      Oh, yes! I love working with kids. They’re so much fun.

A:      Well, I guess you have the perfect job!

B:      Yeah, I like it a lot. There’s just one thing I don’t like.

A:      What’s that?

B:      The distance to school. It’s too far away. It takes me an hour to drive

there every day.

A:      Wow. That must be awful!

B:      It is, but the schools that are near me are not as good.

3.

A:      How is your new job going, Anna?

B:      Good, thanks. I really like it.

A:      What do you like best about it?

B:      I think it’s the people I work with. They are so nice.

A:      People make all the difference in a job, don’t they?

B:      They sure do. The only trouble is, I have to travel a lot. I’m away from

home for about two weeks every month.

A:      Yeah, that can be difficult.

B:      It is. I hope I won’t have to travel so much next year.

B:      Yes, it can be. I don’t like the long hours. I’m always really tired when I get home at night.

A:      That’s too bad. Why don’t you quit?

B:      Because I think my boss is great to work for.

5.

A:      How long have you been working in a restaurant, Martin?

B:      For more than five years.

A:      Wow. You must really enjoy it.

B:      Oh no, I don’t enjoy it at all! It’s hard work and pretty tiring, too. I’m on my feet all night.

A:      Oh, I see.

B:      But the tips are great. I really should find a better job soon, though.
